This resource has been designed to assist students with an essential component of their area of study - related text. A selection of related text has been collated, analysed and interpreted for students, so they can gain a clear understanding of how the concept of belonging is represented in and amongst texts.

Texts such as novels, plays, picture books, films, poetry and song lyrics by various composers, documentaries and multimedia texts (playstation games and website analysis) have been selected in order to provide an extensive list for students to choose from.

Each related text in this resource contains a detailed synopsis of the text and an explanation of how the concept of belonging or not belonging is represented. Additional activities for each text has been designed for students to complete in order to further enhance their understanding.

Most importantly, students will gain an appreciation of how meaning is conveyed in and amongst texts. This resource will broaden students' knowledge of how texts of different genres can interrelate and present a similar message. Students will be able to select related texts which connect to the themes and issues of the prescribed text they are studying.
