The book lists all New Zealand's native plants known or thought to have been used by Maori or Pakeha for medicinal purposes. The plants are arranged by family, and for each species there is information on botany, reported medicinal uses (together with those of related plants), and the chemical constituents likely to be of medicinal value. There is also a comprehensive list of over 500 references that can be consulted for further study. Every effort has been made to ensure accuracy, so that the book will be useful to professional scientists, students and the public in general. The book has black and white and colour plates throughout.
